About

BonBon Bonjour Artistic Statement

In every aspect of work I do in the theatre, from stage management to puppetry, I bring a sturdy and efficient organizational structure to allow for out-of-the-box creativity.  To be able to create collaborative imagination fueled art with a diverse design team, having a strong and efficient foundation can allow for ideas to come to life on the stage.

As a puppeteer and designer, using unique designs to bring creatures to life on stage is one of the biggest joys I have as an artist.  My inspiration comes from everyday objects, a pair of pants, a tube of cardboard, and my designs flourish out of these “found objects.”  This not only allows more unique designs and perspectives in puppetry, but sustainability in art as we recycle what previously was called trash and create new tools to help push the story along.  This also makes puppetry an affordable way to enhance the creative story telling of a production and add to an actor’s performance.  I have made puppets in various styles, from marionette, hand and rod to full body walking puppets.  I love sewing, carving, welding, and painting unique pieces to add to any production at a high quality but with unique perspective.

When it comes to being a Stage Manager, I focus on bringing a positive yet efficient communication style to keep the artistic process collaborative and allow everyone to bring new ideas to our production. Keeping a calm and sturdy head is just as important as staying positive and enjoying the process to allow for the best artistic outcome.  I get the most fulfillment out of working on musical and dance productions, since due to a history in music, working with so many diverse artists all to the same language of music is one of the greatest experiences I believe theatre has to offer.

Creative expression via art is one of the most human things we can do, and creating art as a group of artists makes theatre one of the most human artforms.  Therefore, by making a solid organized base to allow artists to access the stage, I can help let imagination and inventive ideas come to life on your stage efficiently and in a way that leaves everyone who was part of the process a satisfied artist.
